RIDING FOR THOSE WHO SERVED: WE'RE LAUNCHING IRREVERENT WARRIORS IN SIOUX FALLS
War-Torn Cycles is proud to serve as a founding community partner for the Irreverent Warriors Sioux Falls chapter - because veteran suicide ends now.
This is why we built this shop
War-Torn Cycles wasn't built just to wrench on bikes. From the day we signed our lease and opened the doors in Hartford, South Dakota, our mission has always been bigger than engines and exhaust pipes. We exist to use motorcycles as a bridge - a way to get veterans, first responders, and members of our community through the door, into a conversation, and connected to something larger than themselves
Veteran suicide is not an abstract statistic to us. It's personal. It's the text message that changes everything. It's the battle that follows a service member home. Every customer we serve, every bike we tune, every handshake at the door is part of a deliberate effort to build the kind of camaraderie that saves lives. That's the soul of War-Torn Cycles - and it's exactly why we are proud to announce our commitment to helping launch a Sioux Falls community chapter of Irreverent Warriors.

What is Irreverent Warriors
Irreverent Warriors is a nationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission that cuts straight to the point: bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to improve mental health and prevent veteran suicide.
Founded in 2015 after a devastating wave of suicides within the 1st Marine Division, IW was born from Captain Donny O'Malley's conviction that something had to change. He organized the first Silkies Hike near Camp Pendleton - a 22-kilometer ruck in combat boots and military-issued "silkies" shorts, with each veteran carrying 22 pounds to honor the 22 veterans lost to suicide every single day. The concept spread like wildfire.
"We cut through the red tape. There are no pity parties, no lectures... just real veterans supporting one another in ways only we can."
Today, Irreverent Warriors has grown into a movement - 98 chapters across the US, UK, France, and Germany, with over 100,000 alumni and more than 15,000 participants every year. IW events aren't just hikes; they are spaces where laughter, dark humor, shared struggle, and genuine brotherhood create the kind of healing that sterile waiting rooms cannot

Why Sioux Falls - And Why Now
South Dakota is home to a proud and large veteran population, and the Sioux Falls metro area is no exception. Yet the resources available to veterans navigating mental health challenges, isolation, and the loss of military community remain scattered. The American Legion, the VFW, the VA - These are silos of excellence, but the kind of peer-driven, shame-free camaraderie that IW provides is something different. Something raw and real.
Veterans thrive in the bonds of their own platoon. That sense of brotherhood and sisterhood - built in shared struggle, dark humor, and unconditional loyalty - too often disappears when the uniform comes off. Irreverent Warriors rebuilds it. We are working to bring that to Sioux Falls.
As a veteran-owned business rooted in the Hartford and greater Sioux Falls community, War-Torn Cycles is committed to serving as a founding community partner for the Sioux Falls IW chapter. That means showing up, spreading the word, helping recruit volunteers and participants, and making sure every veteran in this area knows this community exists for them.
War-torn Cycles' Commitment to this mission
We are actively working to establish the Sioux Falls Irreverent Warriors community from the ground up. This is the foundational non-profit effort at the heart of everything War-Torn Cycles stands for. We will host awareness events, serve as a connection point for veterans interested in getting involved, and use our shop as a hub for community building every step of the way.
Whether you're a veteran looking to reconnect, a civilian who wants to support the cause, or a local business that shares our values - this is your invitation to be part of something that matters
What to expect for IW events
Irreverent Warriors events are unlike anything in the traditional veteran support space. The signature Silkies Hike - held in combat boots and the iconic military-issued silky shorts - is part physical challenge, part therapy session, and part comedy show. Veterans show up as they are, laugh at things only veterans can laugh at, and walk away with something that no prescription can provide: genuine human connection.
Beyond hikes, IW also offers retreats, peer-led emotional support groups, and holistic healing practices including breathwork, cold immersion, meditation, and equine therapy. The model is built on one principle: meet veterans where they are, without judgment, and build the tribe back up.

More than a motorcycle shop
War-Torn Cycles is located just off Highway 38 near Hartford, South Dakota - a short ride from Sioux Falls. We are a professionally run, full-service motorcycle shop and Dynojet Performance Center, offering expert diagnostics, performance tuning, and certified Harley-Davidson tuning services. But when you walk through our door, you're not just getting a technician. You're getting a partner.
Every customer is saved to our phones. You talk directly to the master tech. You deal with the people who make decisions and who genuinely care about you and your ride. That's the War-Torn way - and it's the same philosophy we bring to this veteran mental health mission.
The name says it all. War-Torn - the battle scars that veterans carry home with them. Cycles - the engine that keeps moving forward. We believe the same resilience that carried our veterans through combat can carry them through whatever comes next. We just need to make sure they don't have to do it alone.
